OPTEX is pleased to announce the launch of the OVS-01SG Solar-Friendly Virtual Loop Vehicle Detection Sensor, a new vehicle detection solution designed for solar gate applications where reliable detection and efficient power use are essential.
Built for solar-powered gate systems, the OVS-01SG offers low current draw to help reduce energy demand while maintaining stable vehicle presence detection. This makes it ideal for locations where conserving power is a priority, including residential driveway gates, commercial gate entrances, vehicle access control points, and other outdoor gate applications.

Using microwave FMCW technology, the OVS-01SG detects both moving and stationary vehicles at the gate. The sensor supports three power consumption modes, allowing installers to choose the right balance of response time and power efficiency based on each site’s needs. The sensor offers low, normal, and high power modes with typical detection times of 3.2 seconds, 1.6 seconds, and 0.8 seconds respectively.
The OVS-01SG also provides flexible setup options, including adjustable sensing distance up to 18 feet, selectable 45° or 90° detection angles, sensitivity settings, detectable vehicle speed settings, and 60° total horizontal angle adjustment. These features help installers adapt the sensor to different gate layouts, approach paths, and traffic conditions.
Designed for indoor and outdoor use, the OVS-01SG includes IP65 dust and water protection, interference prevention, area check functions, and presence detection timer settings to support dependable performance in real-world gate environments. The sensor can be mounted for vehicle protection or gate activation, depending on the needs of the application.
